Engage Timeline:

  • 1996: CMGI creates (and retains majority ownership of) Engage to provide internet marketing technology and solutions
  • 1997: Launches Adsmart online advertising network, later rolled into Engage Media
  • 1998: Acquires Accipiter leading ad serving technology platform for publishers, and merged it into Engage Technologies
  • 1999: I/PRO world wide web traffic verification & analysis and Adknowledge web marketing services acquired and integrated into the Engage Technologies stable of solutions
  • 2000: Adsmart and recently-acquired Flycast online advertising networks fully integrated into Engage
  • 2001: Dot-com bubble bursts: parent company CMGI stock falls below $2.00 a share
  • 2002: CMGI divests itself of Engage; Engage divests its ad serving software solutions division (AdManager, AdBureau, ProfileServer) and Raleigh, NC office as a re-formed Accipiter Solutions, Inc.
  • 2003: Remaining Engage assets (ContentServer workflow automation and digital asset management solutions divested to JDA Software Group
  • 2006: Accipiter (former Engage ad serving solutions group) acquired by aQuantive and subsequently by Microsoft
